It took several years and a divorce for me to understand that you cannot change people. A lot of times people get into a relationship and look to change the other person into who or what they need in their life instead of accepting them for who they are. When you are trying to change them you can become frustrated with them which leads to fighting and stress in the relationship.

Keep in mind:

1. You can only change you. Become the person you want to be, better yourself. You are the only one that can do this. Get in shape, take a class, volunteer your time, etc. Things like these will help you focus on you and in the process, you feel better about you!

2. Learn to appreciate those who are in your life. God brings all kinds of people from all walks of life across our path. Sometimes we see why we met this person or why we are in a relationship with them. Not everyone we meet or have a relationship will be the perfect person for us, although we can learn from them.

3. Keep in mind in our relationships it is not always about you. People need people, see what we can do every day for help those we have in our life and those that we meet today.

Start tomorrow when you wake up, think of those in our life appreciate them and ask yourself how I can better myself today and how can I be a help to others today.

Colossians 3:17 And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.
